Saints' Tyler Shough: Looking more comfortable in Year 2
Shough has looked noticeably more comfortable and in command of the offense entering his second season, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports.
After competing with Spencer Rattler for the starting job last summer as a rookie, Shough has the keys to the offense headed into the 2026 regular season after he completed 67.6 percent of his passes for 2,384 yards and a 10:6 TD:INT over the second half of last season once he took hold of the job from Rattler. The Saints have since added first-round WR Jordyn Tyson and free-agent pickup Travis Etienne to Shough's arsenal, putting the pieces around him to build on his impressive rookie season. Shough is an upside pick in the later rounds of fantasy drafts. He's got continuity with coach Kellen Moore and is playing in what should be one of the league's fastest-paced offenses.

Saints' Dillon Radunz: Suffers ACL tear
Radunz (knee) tore his ACL during Saturday's practice, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Radunz signed a two-year deal with the Saints in March and will now miss year one of that contract. The left guard was one of the top reserve options for the team, so he will likely get surgery as soon as possible to begin preparing for the 2027 season.

Saints' John Ridgeway: Banged up back
Ridgeway suffered a back injury during Sunday's practice session, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Ridgeway was able to finish out the session, but the extent to which his back is injured is unclear. The defensive tackle missed most of the 2025 season with a shoulder injury, only participating in four regular-season games. If the back issue is of a similar severity, undrafted free agent out of Central Michigan Michael Heldman may see an increased snap share throughout the preseason and into the regular season.

Werner suffered a groin injury during Sunday's practice, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
The linebacker was able to finish the session, but the extent to which the groin issue will plague him is unclear. Werner has played through persistent issues before, such as the hand injury he suffered in 2025, so the 27-year-old might practice with the injury, pending medical clearance.

Saints' Cameron Jordan: Absent with hamstring issue
Jordan (hamstring) did not participate in Sunday's practice, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Jordan suffered a hamstring issue during Thursday's session, and the extent of the issue is still being evaluated. The 37-year-old veteran defensive end will likely have extra precautions in place for the injury. If Jordan misses a prolonged period of time, Michael Heldman and Vernon Broughton could see additional first-team snaps and preseason reps.

Saints' Keeshawn Silver: Reverts to injured reserve
Silver (undisclosed) reverted to IR on Saturday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Silver opened training camp on the PUP list due to an undisclosed issue. He was activated Wednesday but was waived/injured just two days later, though it's unclear if he's dealing with a new injury or an aggravation of the previous one. Regardless, since he went unclaimed off waivers he's landed on IR, which means Silver will need to sit out the entire 2026 campaign unless he reaches an injury settlement with New Orleans.

Radunz tweaked his knee early in Saturday's practice, and he'll undergo further tests to determine the severity of the injury and whether he'll be available for the Saints' preseason opener against the Jaguars on Saturday, Aug. 15. William Sherman would be in line for more snaps at offensive guard if Radunz were to miss time.

Blackmon was removed from Saturday's training camp practice due to a knee injury, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Blackmon will undergo further tests to determine the severity of his injury and determine a recovery plan. The seventh-year safety played only in Week 1 of the 2025 season and spent the rest of the year on the IR due to a torn labrum. Blackmon and Jonas Sanker are competing for a starting spot at safety next to Justin Reid.

Neal tweaked his hamstring during Thursday's practice, and the injury prevented him from participating in Saturday's session. Saints' Bryan Bresee: Placed on injured reserve
The Saints placed Bresee (knee) on injured reserve Friday.
Bresee tore his ACL in an early training-camp practice and will undergo surgery in the coming weeks. He'll turn his attention toward rehab and recovery and aim to be fully healthy for the 2027 season, which will be his last under his rookie contract with the Saints. John Ridgeway figures to start opposite Cameron Jordan at defensive end in Bresee's absence.

Saints' Deion Jones: Gets opportunity with New Orleans
The Saints signed Jones to a one-year contract Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The move means Jones will end up playing for all four NFC teams, with his NFL career starting with the Falcons in 2016 as a second-round pick before stints with the Panthers and, most recently, the Buccaneers. He appeared in 17 regular-season games for Tampa Bay last year as a special-teams contributor and depth option on defense, finishing with 29 tackles (16 solo). Jones figures to see most of his playing time on special teams this season, and his addition gives New Orleans depth at inside linebacker behind starters Kaden Elliss and Pete Werner.

Rechsteiner will be eligible to participate in all preseason activities, with his suspension beginning once rosters are reduced to 53 players. The league did not disclose what rules the undrafted free agent out of Jacksonville State violated.
