Broncos' Jaleel McLaughlin: Fighting for No. 4 spot
McLaughlin will enter training camp competing with Tyler Badie for what appears to be the No. 4 role in the Broncos' backfield, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reports.
McLaughlin re-signed with Denver this offseason, but with all of J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey and rookie Jonah Coleman seemingly above him on the running back depth chart, the 25-year-old looks set to battle for depth duties with Badie, McLaughlin still offers change-of-pace abilities and rushing upside (career 4.8 YPC), but Badie's pass-protection skills and special-teams value could make for a tough camp competition. Even if McLaughlin wins the No. 4 spot, he lacks a clear path to touches on offense.

Broncos' Jonah Coleman: Committee path emerging
Coleman will enter training camp positioned to compete for immediate playing time in a Broncos backfield that also includes J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey, Luca Evans of The Denver Post reports.
Coleman impressed at OTAs and mandatory minicamp this spring, and the rookie fourth-round pick could immediately claim the 17 percent of offensive snaps handled by Tyler Badie last season. At 5-foot-8, 220 pounds, Coleman offers more upside than Badie thanks to his compact frame and pass-game utility, and he might push Harvey for third-down work while contributing in short-yardage situations. Coleman looks to be on track to beat out Jaleel McLaughlin and Badie for the No. 3 backfield role, but his fantasy appeal will be limited if the Broncos deploy a full backfield committee.

Broncos' JL Skinner: Cleared for training camp
Skinner (shoulder) stated on his personal Instagram account Monday that he's "100 percent cleared" following the labrum surgery he underwent in February, Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post reports.
When announcing the surgery on his Instagram account in February, Skinner said that he played with the torn labrum the "whole season." The 2023 sixth-round draft selection logged most of his playing time on kick coverage last year, playing 34 defensive snaps and 322 special-teams snaps and tallying 12 tackles (eight solo) along with a recovered fumble over 17 regular-season games. Skinner is slated to again work as a core special teamer and rotational safety during the upcoming campaign if he makes the 53-man roster.

Broncos' Evan Engram: Strong showing during minicamp
Engram is a candidate to increase his production in his second season with the Broncos despite the team's addition of wide receiver Jaylen Waddle in the offseason, Susanna Weir of the Broncos' official site reports.
Engram could benefit from decreased defensive attention as opponents focus on containing Waddle. Per Chad Jensen of SI.com, Engram seems to have earned more trust from Denver's coaching staff compared to his first year with the team, and the veteran tight end enjoyed a strong minicamp in June. Rookie fifth-round pick Justin Joly was the most notable offseason addition to a Broncos tight end room that also includes Adam Trautman, Nate Adkins and Lucas Krull.

Broncos' Jarrett Stidham: Could face challenge for backup job
Stidham could be pushed for the second spot on Denver's quarterback depth chart by Sam Ehlinger in training camp, Parker Gabriel of the Denver Post reports.
Stidham remains the favorite to back up Bo Nix (ankle), but Ehlinger looked good in spring practices and could turn Denver's QB2 battle into a full-fledged competition if Ehlinger continues to impress during training camp and the preseason. Stidham hasn't thrown a regular-season pass since 2023, but he started Denver's AFC Championship Game loss to the Patriots this past season after Nix sustained a fractured ankle. Stidham's struggles in that game (133 passing yards, one touchdown pass and two crucial turnovers) may have helped open the door for Ehlinger to win the backup job in 2026.

Broncos' Wil Lutz: Has solid hold on No. 1 kicker job
Lutz, who signed a contract extension with Denver last November, enters the 2026 campaign as the team's clear primary kicker, Bob Morris of SI.com reports.
Lutz has been very reliable since joining the Broncos in 2023, playing in all 51 of the team's regular-season games and making 89.0 percent of his field-goal tries. He's converted 12 of 18 attempts from 50-plus yards during that time and hasn't missed any extra points over the past two years. Morris notes Lutz's contract includes no guaranteed money in 2028, but with most of his salary guaranteed from 2026 to 2027, the veteran kicker is essentially locked in as Denver's starting kicker for at least the next two years.

Broncos' Courtland Sutton: Could draw more 1-on-1 matchups
Sutton could benefit from more one-on-one matchups during the upcoming season following Denver's acquisition of Jaylen Waddle, Susanna Weir of the team's official site reports.
Waddle has averaged 77.5 catches for 1,049 yards and 7.5 touchdowns over the past two seasons as the Broncos' No. 1 wideout, and the team gave its WR room a dramatic new look in mid-March by dealing for Waddle. While the trade on one hand means Sutton is more of a 1A in the pecking order alongside Waddle, it may also mean the former will have more open looks with opposing defenses needing to focus heavy attention on Waddle. It remains to be seen how exactly the Broncos' offense will adjust to Waddle's presence, but with QB Bo Nix (ankle) expected to be good to go for the start of training camp and coming off a 2025 regular season during which he threw the most passes in the NFL, there should be adequate targets for both Sutton and Waddle to put up lofty receiving numbers.

Broncos' Jaylen Waddle: Has impressed coach thus far
Coach Sean Payton has been pleased with what he's seen from Waddle since the wideout was acquired in March in a trade with the Dolphins, Susanna Weir of the team's official site reports.
"He's someone who picks things up real quick," Payton said last month of Waddle, who put up a 64/910/6 receiving line (on 100 targets) in 16 regular-season games in 2025. "You can just feel his instincts, his quickness and his ability to not only run fast but stop fast. So, he's doing well." Looking ahead, Waddle and Courtland Sutton are slated to lead a Denver WR corps that also includes Pat Bryant, Marvin Mims and Troy Franklin. Assuming he builds solid chemistry with QB Bo Nix (ankle), who is excited about the explosiveness Waddle brings to the team's offense, the 2021 first-rounder -- who topped 1,000 receiving yards during his first three seasons (2021-2023) with Miami -- is a candidate to see an uptick in production in 2026, and in turn provide weekly fantasy utility in his new locale.
